POSITIVE INFLUENCING SKILLS

What makes this course different?
We all need the help and co-operation of others if we are to achieve our goals but there is no single influencing model that works in every situation; influencing requires a mix of skills from a wide range of subjects. This course strips away the jargon and helps participants select what they need to influence more effectively and more positively.

Here are some of the things they learn:
  • Why interpersonal skills, and particularly influencing skills, are so important
  • The difference between manipulative and positive influencing
  • Principles of positive influencing
  • Obstacles to positive influencing, recent research and surveys
  • The seven 'foot shooting' behaviours to avoid
  • The behaviour equation, behaviour triggers & responses
  • Exploring and using others' perspectives and logic to find out how to 'sell' your ideas and proposals
  • Obstacles to exploring and how to overcome them
  • How to make your ideas attractive
  • Subtle rapport-building skills
  • The dos and don'ts of body language for positive influencers
  • Embedded suggestions and how to use them
  • How to protect yourself from manipulators
  • How to influence group decisions
  • How to implement what you have learned easily and surely
  • How positive influencing skills will boost your reputation and credibility
Learning methods
The component parts of influencing are practiced in small, informal groups until participants are ready to try 'dress rehearsals' on their own real life situations. The theoretical 'underpinning' is fully explained and there is plenty of time for consolidation and implementation planning.
